Green Vinyl, High Notes, and a Whole Lotta Heart

Why Jason Kelce’s Not My Only Hero

I’ve stood by the Browns through fumbles, false hope, and four-win seasons. But suddenly I found myself humming along with a team I’ve never cheered for. Sometimes, loyalty isn’t about the scoreboard—it’s about the soul behind the snap count.

I’m a huge football fan. And yes, a lifelong Browns fan—which means I’ve mastered the art of cheering for the underdog. But sometimes, it’s not the plays on the field that earn your loyalty—it’s the heart behind the jersey. After watching what the Eagles offensive line did with a Christmas album (on green vinyl, no less), I found myself considering a midlife conversion—with the added bonus of getting to wear more green.

Several years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line decided to do something that would’ve made both Santa and your grandma proud—they released a Christmas album, A Philly Christmas Special. An actual vinyl LP. Old-school, green, glorious. I love green. Always have. It’s the color of life, possibility, guacamole...and apparently, football charity records.

The trio—Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata—put together a holiday album to raise money for various charities in and around Philadelphia. But they didn’t just throw something together—they committed. Harmonies, studio time, album covers, the works.

I stumbled across “White Christmas” and I was hooked. They were laughing. Singing. Genuinely having the time of their lives—while doing something good. And that was it—I had to get the album.

And then I heard the music.

Now listen, I expected some holiday chaos—maybe some off-key linemen belting out "Jingle Bells" like it was a third-grade talent show. What I didn’t expect was Jason Kelce sounding like he could hold his own on a Broadway stage. But then—THEN—Jordan Mailata starts singing.

Y’all.

🟢 Go watch the video of them recording “White Christmas” in the studio. You won’t regret it. No seriously—pause right now and watch the clip of them recording. You won’t regret it. Because Jordan doesn’t just sing. He sings. Rich, velvety, goosebump-worthy vocals that come out of a 6'8", 365-pound man built like a freight train. And the absolute best part?

Jason Kelce’s face.

The moment Jordan opens his mouth, Jason just smiles—that kind of deep, proud, full-body smile—and you can see the joy written all over his face. He’s beaming. They all are.

And here’s what makes it even better:

They weren’t doing this for attention.

They were doing it to support their community. Three offensive linemen, standing in a studio, singing their hearts out for charity—and having the time of their lives doing it.

The music is great. The vocals are impressive.

But the fun? The heart? The purpose? That’s what makes it unforgettable.

And honestly, we need more of that in today’s world.

I didn’t snag the first record. Sold out. Rookie mistake. But the next Christmas? I was on that presale list like a mom on Taylor Swift ticket drop day. Got it. Box set and everything. And ever since, I’ve had a soft spot for the Eagles.

Now, to be clear—I’ve always loved a good underdog. (Sorry, Cowboys fans. Not sorry.)I root for the teams that fight hard, show up humble, and do more than just toss the ball around. I like purpose with my points.

But here’s where the story takes a turn. Because there’s a second MVP in this whole saga.

Kylie Kelce.

Jason's wife.

Mother of four daughters.

Former college athlete.

Professional badass.

This woman is out there living her life—not just playing the role of supportive spouse, though she does support him 100%. She’s raising four girls while keeping her own identity, telling her own truth, and saying the F-word unapologetically. Bless her.

She’s funny. She’s real. She’s not out there trying to win Miss Congeniality on Instagram. She’s the mom-friend we all wish we had in our 30s—the one who’d pour you wine while your toddler throws puffs across the floor and remind you that you’re still allowed to chase your own dreams. She is the unapologetically real voice I wish I’d heard in my own thirties.

I didn’t know how to be that kind of mom back then.

I mean, I did my best. I kept my humans alive. I packed their lunches. I cheered at their sporting events. But I wasn’t always sure who I was in the middle of it all.

Kylie? She reminds me that even now, at 50-something, I don’t have to lose my voice. I can speak up. Laugh loud. Say the F-word and be nurturing. I can write this blog, tell my stories, and show up in this next chapter like I own it.

I don’t know if Kylie Kelce even realizes it, but she’s the kind of woman who reminds you that you can be figuring it out and crushing it at the same time. That being real—really real—is sometimes the bravest thing you can be.

She’s not faking anything—she’s just showing up, messy bun and all, and reminding the rest of us that we don’t have to have it all figured out to be doing a damn good job.

And if you haven’t listened to her podcast—📢 Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce — go fix that. Funnier than shit and realer than most things on the internet. If you ever need to know you’re not alone? Go listen to her.

I’m a fan—not just of their talent, but of their integrity. The way they show up for their family, their community, and each other? That’s what earns my respect.

So today, here’s to Jason’s falsetto.

Here’s to green vinyl and good men.

And here’s to the women behind the scenes, raising daughters, staying real, and teaching the rest of us that authenticity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a lifeline.

And if I ever meet Kylie Kelce?

I’m buying her a drink.

Possibly several.

And letting her know—girl, you’ve got fans down here in Texas, too.

I’ll always root for the underdog.

But more than that, I root for the people who show up with heart, humor, and a little bit of harmony.

Because sometimes, it’s not about the team—it’s about the truth they bring.

And the joy they spark.

And the reminder that we’re allowed to change, connect, and cheer for more than just the scoreboard.

You never know who’s gonna win you over.

But when it happens?

You pour a drink, cue the music, and say:

Hell yes. These are my people.

❤️ Quote of the Day:

"It’s not just talent. It’s the way they show up—with integrity."
