Why I Belong on Press Your Luck

I’ve raised teenagers, remodeled a kitchen, and hosted family Christmas. I fear no Whammy.

You ever watch a game show and think,

I could do that. I should do that. WHY am I not doing that?

That was me, on the couch, yelling at the TV like it owed me money.

I didn’t want to win a toaster oven.

I wanted flashing lights, a big red button, and my moment.

Midlife crisis? Maybe.

But I’d rather press my luck than press snooze.

🎰 The Bucket List Nobody Asked For

I’ve already checked a few things off my bucket list—like running a marathon, finishing a doctoral degree, and planting a tulip garden. It doesn’t include Mount Everest or base jumping with a GoPro strapped to my helmet.

Nope. The next thing I really want to do is hit that red button.

I want to win a tropical vacation I’ll definitely overpack for.

want to high-five strangers like we’ve known each other since PTA.I want the drama, the spinning lights, the ridiculous tension of that cartoon Whammy waiting to ruin my day.

But more than that, I want to show what it looks like when someone with no sob story shows up anyway.

Let’s be honest—sometimes life just hands you a grocery list, some gray hair, and a lot of Mondays.

🏆 Why Me?

I haven’t had my name in a headline (thank goodness for that!),but I’ve stared down grief, built a life from the messy middle, and kept showing up through hard seasons no one else ever saw.

I’ve survived raising two teenagers.

A kitchen remodel.

Texas humidity while wearing Spanx.

And Christmas dinner with 17 family members that basically requires a seating chart and a whistle.

If that doesn’t qualify me for a spin on the big board, I don’t know what does.

🎤 Bigger Than the Game Show

I’m the kind of contestant who knows how to cheer for other people, make fun of herself, and turn a margarita machine win into a celebration.

We all know the truth is, life throws whammies whether you’re on TV or not.

The wins don’t always come with confetti, but I’ll still hit that button every chance I get.

Some of us are just out here surviving the ordinary, cheering for others, and pressing our luck — one imperfect, glorious day at a time.

You won’t find my story in the headlines. You’ll find it in the everydays.

🎯 The Real Win

At the end of the day, we’re all pressing our luck in one way or another.

Sometimes it’s taking a chance on a new job, or a move, or a relationship.

Sometimes it’s just getting through another Monday with our sense of humor intact.

We may not get flashing lights when things go right, but we get something better—stories we’ll tell, memories we’ll keep, and the quiet confidence that we showed up.

And when things go wrong? Well, that’s just life’s Whammy, reminding us we’re still in the game.

So maybe the real win isn’t the tropical trip or the margarita machine.

Maybe it’s knowing that even without the headlines, we’re still spinning, still laughing, and still showing up for one imperfect, glorious day at a time.

Big bucks, no whammy—right here, in real life.

But if the Press Your Luck casting team ever calls me, you bet your Whammy I’m going.

🧷 Quote of the Day:

“The wins don’t always come with flashing lights, but I’ll still hit that button every chance I get.”
